Frequently asked questions about my freelance writing rates

Since my availability can vary significantly, I can only guarantee the turnaround times specified in my proposals or in retainer contracts. However, my typical turnaround times for blog posts are around one to two weeks and three to four weeks for whitepapers and case studies, depending on client interview schedules.

Content should never be longer than it needs to be to achieve its goal. That said, long-form content tends to perform better in SEO. For most topics, I generally recommend a length of at least 1,000 words for blog posts, and at least 2,000 words for whitepapers.

I don’t provide design services. However, I’m happy to source images and take screenshots where required at no extra cost. Please note that I cannot purchase images from fee-paying websites like ShutterStock or Getty Images, although I’m happy to recommend ones where needed.

Although I take every care to provide high-quality, error-free content, I’m not a professional editor or proof reader. Especially for high-value pieces like case studies and whitepapers, I recommend having a separate editor who provides these specialised services.

All my rates include up to two rounds of ‘reasonable revisions’. This includes any corrections, small additions, and rewrites of minor portions of text. While it’s perfectly normal for high-value content like case studies and whitepapers to require multiple iterations, it’s important to make every effort to clearly define the scope and expectations before starting.

I typically increase my freelance content writing rates at the beginning of the year to reflect changes in the marketplace and cost-of-living increases. If you’re a regular client, I’ll let you know at least one month in advance.

Due to the digital nature of the services I offer, I cannot offer refunds. However, if you’re not completely happy with my work, I provide reasonable revisions as part of my rates. I’m glad to say that, in 15 years of freelance writing, I’ve never had a major issue with any clients I’ve worked with.

I prefer direct bank transfers in the currencies for which I have bank account details. If absolutely necessary, I can accept payments by PayPal. However, for payments made via PayPal, I charge an extra 10% to account for fees and currency exchange rates.

Yes. I’m always happy to negotiate a bulk discount for retainer contracts lasting three months or more and consisting of four or more blog posts (or the equivalent in terms of workload) per month.

You have exclusive rights to all content you purchase from me, regardless of whether or not it includes my byline. However, I reserve the right to add the content to my portfolio, unless agreed otherwise.
